Privacy Summary
- StickyVote facilitates communication between
citizens and lawmakers.
- This process requires collecting data from citizens, much of it personal, and passing it on to legislators. Transmission of this personal data to your legislators is necessary for validation of your identity by the legislator, so that your preference can be given weight prior to a vote.
- Privacy
Promise: We will never sell your
identity or contact information to any third party for any
reason, nor will any third party be allowed to contact you unless
you explicitly request that they be able to do so. All of your
information is and will continue to be protected against unauthorized
access by web encryption and security.
Definitions
- "Personal information" is defined here as any information that can be associated with a specific person and thus can be used to identify that person.
- "Aggregate information" is information that has been anonymized
so that it is completely detached from a person's identity and thus is
impossible to use for personal identification.
Email
Your email address is necessary for account administration, such as
resetting your password. We will never sell or share your email
address,
except in the case that you explicitly request that it be provided to a
third
party in whom you are interested. Cases where you would choose to
provide your email to a third
party include but are not limited to: requesting a response from a
representative by email, requesting that an organization contact you by
email, or sending a 'Tell a Friend' email.
Information we collect
When you register, we collect some basic
personal information including your name, email, and physical address
(for assessing your voting district). Once you have an account with us,
we track your voting history as well as site activity and preferences.
Additionally, we offer the option to provide additional information
including but not limited to: voter registration information, personal
political priorities, and demographic data such as your age, gender,
political party affiliation, and ethnicity. This sort of sensitive data
is kept separate from your personal information and is
only used in aggregate.
How we use the information
We collect information with the purpose of
passing voter opinions on to legislators. We also allow other users of
the site, such as other members and advocacy organizations, access to
aggregate information, often in the form of charts of votes on a
particular issue. We may store and process personal information
collected on our site in the United States or any other country in
which InnoVoter Inc. or its agents maintain facilities. Therefore, by
using our
services, you consent to the transfer of your information among these
facilities, including those located outside your country. While
this is the case, each of these transmissions is secure and used for
purposes internal to StickyVote alone.
Who we give information to
As stated before, a vote on innovoter is an explicit request that we
send a message to your elected officials. This message
contains your stance on a political issue, your name, and your
address. In this way, using StickyVote is very similar to signing a
petition.
Outside of these messages, we divulge only aggregate information about
our users and will not share personal information with
any third party without your express consent.
By providing information
to InnoVoter, you are explicitly requesting us to pass aggregates of
that information on to your legislators. However, your votes,
vote history, demographic data and district information will be
connected with your name only if you give us permission to do so.
Demographic data is only used in aggregate and will not be shared with
any third party in connection with your name. Providing information to
the StickyVote implicitly allows innovoter members and third parties to
view aggregates of
that information, for example, charts of votes yes and no for each
issue.

When you visit InnoVoter, we send one or more cookies - a small
